Overall we had such a great day even though we were running on no sleep and no coffee (the place where we shot was in the middle of no where). I also worked with makeup artist Wendy Kwei who is not only meticulous with her work but is the sweetest person you will ever meet and is now a close friend of mine.</div><div><br /></div><div>Here's a sneak peek at the editorial which is called "Vindictive", for the full editorial head to <a href="http://www.anewmuse.net"> A New Muse </a></div></div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJ6Qe3o5DFMzRkG-voB57pHBElDWHmCz4iYoFfg0IPvWAmMuBzUqRN_3Nsp44W5Vwjd3GkJCExx499iiTE81SOTTF_Uknv_dMQIAlyd2XfxkRJ0SQ_lfc5gxKdS46jI53OZHuoML5QSdj2/s1600/Blog.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJ6Qe3o5DFMzRkG-voB57pHBElDWHmCz4iYoFfg0IPvWAmMuBzUqRN_3Nsp44W5Vwjd3GkJCExx499iiTE81SOTTF_Uknv_dMQIAlyd2XfxkRJ0SQ_lfc5gxKdS46jI53OZHuoML5QSdj2/s400/Blog.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5581483698128963042" /></a><div><br /></div><div>Don't forget to head to my <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mitchell-Steed-Stylist/137317079666479">facebook page</a> and "Like it" to see images and updates I don't post on here. </div><div><br /></div><div>Mitch x</div>Mitch Steedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04676480921576868658noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3604728727963712127.post-37436038813577440532011-02-17T08:18:00.006+11:002011-02-17T09:49:07.087+11:00Behind the scenes<div>It's not every day that you get to see what happens behind the scenes so I thought I'd show a couple of shots my assistants took on my most recent editorial and an older beach shoot. I think the hardest thing with red carpet fashion is that you have to find something your client is going to like, find something that will be well recieved by the media and also to find something fashion forward that is just forward enough for people. What I mean by "forward enough for people" is something that is ahead of the fashion game that people will be ready to accept as fashionable and not freaky, think of Gaga in the meat dress... not only was it too forward it was actually just completely wrong in all aspects (although she clearly showed how women are viewed as pieces of meat haha).</div></div><div><br /></div><div>We saw many trends marching down the red carpet but one that stood out for me would be all the shimmering sequins. A few few versions of sequinned gowns showed up and we also saw a peek at different styles soon to be filtered down to high street stores (mainly the sequins.. I don't really think you'll find red carpet rip offs at Sportsgirl or The Gap).</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0Td4UHICRz4a1VXL83xcJF7eFQQUGc7FMZAC3DleTclQc12MQ6HhchxzGofDpPilyVXg_uT4ltEXhBE0MN5Ujg-qD5QbVUhqNJmk19xaM4jI6kC6MI7-zECB79E8VNl3evsWPK6j78Bsl/s400/olivia_wilde_Globes.jpg" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5563378162857648754" /><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: x-small; color: rgb(51, 102, 255); -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 5px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 5px; "><pre style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span">Photo: Getty Images via WHO mag</span><span class="Apple-style-span"> </span></pre></span></div><div><br /></div><div>Here we have Tron Legacy star Olivia Wilde in a stunning Marchesa gown, now a lot of people gave her flack saying this was more for the Oscars and too extravagant.. but I say bring on the drama as she looked stunning. I love how the embellishing looks like clusters of stars seen from the Hubble telescope. Why this works: Its fitted at the bodice and it starts to expand from the smallest part of Olivia's waist, also chocolate is a trending colour along with other brown shades.<div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDT3vFSfFaO2gRVLXT7v3hq6ynKNezweJKx0Qmt4GWlk04fRlHavY_5DP-RjjkWMcd1ODL8YBz12-vR65JVWjHPQr1EA_6CnwWokvFVwwwI_x7mvVHOSzSGch5-04-zczgSTfeDJrYDQ7k/s400/anne_hathaway_Globes.jpg" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 256px; height: 400px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5563378158374313026" /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: x-small; color: rgb(51, 102, 255); -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 5px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 5px; "><pre style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; white-space: normal; font-size: 16px; "><pre><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 11px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small; color: rgb(51, 102, 255); "><span class="Apple-style-span">Photo: Getty Images via WHO mag</span><span class="Apple-style-span"> </span></span> </span></pre></span></pre></span></div><div>Here we have the stunning Anne Hathaway in an Armani backless gown. It seems she can do no wrong when it comes to Armani. One thing I love about this is that it has full sleeves, a floor length hem but is backless which turns this into a sexy gown, it's not often that covering your front is considered sexy but "leave a little to the imagination" must be this actresses mantra. Why this works: this shade really compliments Anne's hair and makeup it's also just a really great gown!</div><div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSY0_U7PVoY8rfmpUl2RpEz725paHrJq0cCp0MGiUt0OTpw4oogSy0anamwpUIhldwx6BPYS06tUBcyp7zxr9I1XpLt2VvvZAFRihGC4bqatlQBHEzeXgdAsocQ0BwZEdbXvkAqfMcHn0A/s1600/scarlett_johannson_Globes.jpg"></a><div><br /></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSY0_U7PVoY8rfmpUl2RpEz725paHrJq0cCp0MGiUt0OTpw4oogSy0anamwpUIhldwx6BPYS06tUBcyp7zxr9I1XpLt2VvvZAFRihGC4bqatlQBHEzeXgdAsocQ0BwZEdbXvkAqfMcHn0A/s1600/scarlett_johannson_Globes.jpg"><img style="text-align: left;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px; " src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSY0_U7PVoY8rfmpUl2RpEz725paHrJq0cCp0MGiUt0OTpw4oogSy0anamwpUIhldwx6BPYS06tUBcyp7zxr9I1XpLt2VvvZAFRihGC4bqatlQBHEzeXgdAsocQ0BwZEdbXvkAqfMcHn0A/s400/scarlett_johannson_Globes.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5563379574643204066" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: x-small; color: rgb(51, 102, 255); -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 5px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 5px; "><pre style="text-align: center; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; white-space: normal; font-size: 16px; "><pre><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; white-space: normal; font-size: x-small; color: rgb(51, 102, 255); "><pre><span class="Apple-style-span">Photo: Getty Images via WHO mag</span><span class="Apple-style-span"> </span></pre></span></pre></span></pre></span></div><div>Scarlett Johansson is sporting this Ellie Saab gown with elements of ethereal beauty fused with Hollywood glamour. Now she did get slammed for wearing this being accused of looking "boring" I don't think its so much boring as it is too pale for her complexion, put this on someone with a darker skin tone or get a darker colour of this dress and it would be spot on. I've gone from volunteering backstage at fashion shows to a full fledged stylist after working 24/7 ...months on end. I think one of the reasons for my success would be my realistic attitude and sheer drive and focus on where I want to be, there's nothing quite like doing what you love as a career (or in my case as a lifestyle). Many of you have been here from the start, many of you are new and many are yet to come.. so here's a glimpse at the story so far... I'm going to gloss over a fair bit as it has been very eventful.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>The beginning story:</b></div><div><br /></div><div>So it's been 3 years since I up and left my career in retail to jump head first into the <b><i>real</i></b> fashion industry (long long story short.. I was in retail for 5 years where I honed in my people management skills and frequently would style for VIP events and TV personalities/supply outfits for magazines... but it wasn't enough to satisfy me). I started this blog about 7 months after I left my job and also after being inspired by an intern I was working with (who is now a close friend) I needed an outlet to talk about fashion so this was a great way to share my views and passion. </div><div><br /></div><div><b>The middle story:</b></div><div><br /></div><div>The friend I mentioned above stumbled across a fantastic writing opportunity for herself and mentioned the site was looking for a stylist assistant, naturally I applied 3 weeks later as I was so nervous writing a letter. After meeting with the creating director I was actually offered the role of Fashion Editor due to my knowledge of fashion, my passion and the standard of work I presented (pretty much said my letter sold me instantly but wanted to see if I was the same in person). That's when I abandoned this blog as I was writing for the site, conducting photo shoots as well as juggling my assisting work so I didn't really have any spare time to write here. </div><div><br /></div><div>It was about 4 months after joining the site that I decided to go solo and see if I could survive without assisting, this was not really my choice... I couldn't assist many people cause I don't drive... for aspiring stylist's out there you <b>MUST</b> drive... trust me you're going to see why later on in future posts. The first 3 months solo were really tough, work was really intense for really low pay (it beat working for free which I did for a YEAR! full time) I had a few jobs which back then seemed like high paying roles so they balanced it out a bit. A client who booked me the most went away for 3 months to do charity and I really learnt the downside of freelancing, 8 weeks of no work and you really start to panic and realise that maybe you have to put your dream on hold to get a job you hate in order to pay bills. The day she returned I went from bored and worried to flat out busy and jet setting interstate, it started with a few small fashion show cases to big fashion launches (including the infamous Vogue Fashion's Night Out which I styled fashion showcases for some of Australia's leading designers). Through all these projects I met some amazing people and my network exploded which led to new clients and amazing opportunities... oh and also did I mention fashion parties? this is a great way to have a free night out but also to meet new clients, where other people would run to the bar I'd stay in the group to socialize and network.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>The present story:</b></div><div><br /></div><div>Last year flew by it saw me go from assisting on shoots and runways at fashion week to styling fashion editorials, reviewing the runway shows at fashion week, styling runway shows, fashion show cases, hosting fashion talks, styling event launches, supplying outfit options for people like Jennifer Hawkins, personal consulting, being a Fashion Editor and being a personal shopper/stylist. .</div><div><br /></div><div>The online magazine will be focusing on features rather than blog posts so I now have time to focus on my "wants/loves/needs" to share with you like in the past. I'm currently working on my website which will be going live soon (after I've changed my mind on layout 100 times.. my web designer is very patient) and I look to keep this blog up to date with not only on things I want/love/need but also what projects I'm working on so I can share some behind the scenes stories and photos with you.</div><div><br /></div><div>Here's to an exciting and stylish future.</div><div><br /></div><div>Mitch . Jayson is an Australian designer and he makes gorgeous and really feminine looks. Whenever his name or work is mentioned I think "Sophisticated, glamorous, chic", he really knows how to make flattering garments and play with our senses using textured fabrics and wonderful colour pallets that have references to the Australian landscape.<br /><br />I know it's been and is currently almost over in fashion land, but I decided to show off his SS/09 collection as I've had people in LA, London and Italy ask for some Australian fashion, so I dare not disappoint. Jayson's SS/09 collection took us to a really classic realm, over sized collars, big bows and shirt dresses played a major role throughout the range. I had the pleasure of using pieces from this collection at a special Designer showcase night at Myer (one of Australia's biggest department stores) it was great to see that the garments were even more amazing in real life and not just fab on the runway.<br /><br /><br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 260px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 391px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://l.yimg.com/ea/img/-/090828/blogimport_3g4nra-159ei9t.jpg?x=260&q=80&n=1&sig=L4NRvabMrl5cH2thP.WTCQ--" /> <br /><div align="center">I love the pearly pink fabric that these shorts were made out of, it creates dramatic shading giving a lovely draped look and smooth silky textures that excite your eyes. This shirt is a must have, the masculinity from the over sized collar and rolled sleeves just makes a woman look sexy and chic.</div><br /> <img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 260px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 391px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://l.yimg.com/ea/img/-/090828/blogimport_oklyje-159eia4.jpg?x=260&q=80&n=1&sig=AJz1ZHZbsoyuGTMEaSxSOg--" /> <p align="center"><br />We all know I have a thing for texture (well you should by now as I've used the word 28 times this week) but how amazing does this dress look! I love the over sized bow (another obsession of mine) It cinches in at the waist giving a gorgeous hourglass silhouette and I'm loving the mint green shade.<br /></p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 260px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 391px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://l.yimg.com/ea/img/-/090828/blogimport_qizb3i-159ei9n.jpg?x=260&q=80&n=1&sig=8tLwX6c4O8rGQNbFNwQmlQ--" /> <p align="center"><br />Nothing says <em>'Glamour'</em> more then accordion pleats in a dress or skirt, Marylin Monroe eat your heart out! This look transports me to a croquet club when the ladies are having high tea while the gents are smoking cigars and talking about the new railroad being built....... ok I did go to a strange 1940's scene with that, but still it's a lovely thought.</p><p align="center"> </p><p align="left">I'm looking forward to his next collection and working with the garments again. Next year will be busy so I'm sure I'll get my grubby hands all over the collections in no time at all.</p><p align="left">Mitch. The thing that attracted me at first was the use of colour against that good old classic body con dress, I loved how the fabric looked as though it had been wrapped around the models right there on the spot creating that perfect fit. After the garments from this collection that I loved and the men's line, I'm really starting to warm up to DKNY<br /><br /><br /><div><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 480px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.style.com/slideshows/fashionshows/2010PF/DKARAN/RUNWAY/26m.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 480px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.style.com/slideshows/fashionshows/2010PF/DKARAN/RUNWAY/12m.jpg" /></div><div></div><div></div><div align="center"> </div><div align="center"> </div><div align="center">I absolutely love these body con dresses, especially the electric blue number. Everyone, everywhere is excited about the collections and I don't blame them, we see the fashion industry battle the GFC (Global Financial Crisis)by showing what's beating in our hearts, fashion will never die out and style is forever!<br /><br />I know I normally blind everyone with my addiction to colour, but I loved the sleek & sharp design used in <em>Jason Wu's</em> PF 2010 collection. I loved how everything was cinched at the waist, it really shows off a ladies curvature and creates that lovely hourglass shape. The pleating in the skirt details really adds that feminine charm to the strong looks shown. It really reminded me of the Australian label <em>Cue</em> and what they have to offer instore currently (their current campaign shows off their edgier looks so don't relate it to this post)<br /><p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 480px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.style.com/slideshows/fashionshows/2010PF/JASONWU/RUNWAY/03m.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 480px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.style.com/slideshows/fashionshows/2010PF/JASONWU/RUNWAY/01m.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 480px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.style.com/slideshows/fashionshows/2010PF/JASONWU/RUNWAY/20m.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 480px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.style.com/slideshows/fashionshows/2010PF/JASONWU/RUNWAY/15m.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 480px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.style.com/slideshows/fashionshows/2010PF/JASONWU/RUNWAY/17m.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 480px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.style.com/slideshows/fashionshows/2010PF/JASONWU/RUNWAY/11m.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 480px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.style.com/slideshows/fashionshows/2010PF/JASONWU/RUNWAY/09m.jpg" /></p><p> </p><p>Hints of colour, sharp lines, pleating and strong feminine looks, <em>Jason Wu's</em> PF 2010 collection reminds us why we love him so much. The cure? a rotary telephone headset that has been converted into a bluetooth receiver!! Gone are the days of weird chips for your ear, now you can walk with your chunky retro pride.<br /><br />These babies have been around for ages but I remembered that Santa needed ideas for my Xmas presents, wouldn't be an Xmas without a novelty gift (but for practical use). I can really see myself at a shoot with one of these, I'd love it in a blue.... but the red would also suit me.<br /><br />Mitch. From architectural influences to the punk revival, there's no stopping this creative team and it's collaborations with top designers such as Vivienne Westwood<br /><br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 250px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 250px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://images.nymag.com/images/2/daily/fashion/08/07/28_shoes_lgl.jpg" /><br /><div align="center">These are the awesome pair I saw ages ago in <em>The Corner Shop,</em> can't remember the price but I remember being shocked at how affordable they were. Has a very <em>Aeon Flux</em> feel to it (Charlize Theron rocked that futuristic style in the movie)</div><br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 450px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 509px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://gemagema.tv/blogs/agemda/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/plastic-dreams-agyness-deyn_opt.jpg" /><br /><br /><div align="center">Aggy showing us how to rock this look with pop colours. I think that's one reason why I love <em>The Sartorialist</em> and all the photo's he takes of immaculate suiting, it inspires me to join the <em>modern gentlemen</em> movement, but I'd also have to have my days of street wear and quirk, I'm sure I can come up with a way to have it all and not look contrived/scary<br /><br /><a href="http://www.gq.com/slideshows/mens/fashionshows/S2010MEN/CKMEN/RUNWAY/00330m.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 480px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.gq.com/slideshows/mens/fashionshows/S2010MEN/CKMEN/RUNWAY/00330m.jpg" /></a><br /><div align="center"> </div><div align="center">Calvin Klein showing us how to blind on-lookers with this electric coloured suit, something they have been doing a lot this year, electric coloured suits or those acid greens (which I Love!)</div><br /><br /><br /><a href="http://www.gq.com/slideshows/mens/fashionshows/S2010MEN/SFMEN/RUNWAY/00180m.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 480px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.gq.com/slideshows/mens/fashionshows/S2010MEN/SFMEN/RUNWAY/00180m.jpg" /></a><br /><div align="center"> </div><div align="center">Salvatore Ferragamo giving us this great tailored number with spat style shoes. This could have stemmed from my childhood when my Nan made me pink overalls (yep pink denim) or the fluoro orange striped jumper she made me (think of a bee..but orange) I was also obsessed with my red converse.. I was 5 and wore them till they died... R.I.P Red Connies... now you've been replaced by adult sized ones and a red SEQUIN pair.<br /><br /><br />Childhood aside I think that block colours are strong again in men's fashion, kind of back to the days in 2004 when colour exploded in men's labels. Ralph Lauren have always been strong advocates for the colour revival in men's fashion and this season they didn't disappoint, we saw lavender cardigans over aqua shirts and the most amazing pair of aqua pants which I still say I NEED!<br /><br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 480px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.gq.com/slideshows/mens/fashionshows/S2010MEN/DKNYMEN/RUNWAY/00060m.jpg" /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div align="center">Here's the blue and yellow combination that seems to be ultra popular with European design houses, I even saw a few bikini's with the colour combo. I was pleasantly surprised when 'Little Bird' came on from the album Seventh Tree, it's a soft melody that kind of puts you in a meditative state... or as I have been doing a lot lately.. it makes you drift off to that golden flecked meadow land of fantasy.<br /><br />This album is quite a departure from the previous disco infused one but it's a pleasant change. It gives me a feeling of a kind of journey that a french-clown-wood-nymph is going on through a gorgeous country side.<br /><br />One thing I love about the leading lady is her quirky styling and ever changing look. From the pictures below you'll be able to see some similarities with Mary-Kate Olsen (or is it Ashley?) Natalie Bassingwaithe and a sad french clown...<br /><br /><a href="http://www.orble.com/images/goldfrapp2.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.orble.com/images/goldfrapp2.jpg" /></a> I swear I'm getting an Olsen twin vibe from her eyes... can you see it? Well that aside I'm loving this pirate look and I'm envious of her shirt and hat!<br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://www.iheartberlin.de/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/l_1f1b0cc9d8acf16f7490e9d1233e270e.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 450px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 336px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.iheartberlin.de/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/l_1f1b0cc9d8acf16f7490e9d1233e270e.jpg" /></a> </div><div>Here I see Natalie Basinggwaithe .. can you see it? I love the harlequin print all-in-one suit with a silk ruffle collar. Loving the sun spilling over the mountain and meadow, I think it's always an image I'm drawn to... leaks of golden sun over gorgeous fields.<br /><br /><div><a href="http://www.iheartberlin.de/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/attachment.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 340px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 340px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.iheartberlin.de/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/attachment.jpg" /></a> </div><div>You can't ignore that this one is the sad french clown! I honestly wish people would wear this in real life, it's just so fun and whimsical, or is that just the lavender field intoxicating my senses?<br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://www.bandweblogs.com/goldfrapp.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 385px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 289px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.bandweblogs.com/goldfrapp.jpg" /></a><br />A better shot of the harlequin all in one, she jazzed it up with the covetable pirate hat this time.<br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://www.thegarden.com/events/media/events/goldfrapp-328.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 328px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 253px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.thegarden.com/events/media/events/goldfrapp-328.jpg" /></a><br />Accessory of the season? a giant owl! you must get one if you are ever going to be the pirate clown you are destined to be!<br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://www.digitalruin.net/sites/default/files/image/Goldfrapp_Seventh_Tree2.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 294px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 294px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.digitalruin.net/sites/default/files/image/Goldfrapp_Seventh_Tree2.jpg" /></a><br />This kinda makes you feel all warm and safe, one of my favourite images from the album artwork. With this similarity you would noticed that everything I like is always colourful or shiny or simply the both combined.<br /><br />Right now a colour I'm obsessed with is red, there's nothing quite as exciting as an attractive model with fiery red locks (especially that red cordial colour).<br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3294/2954666359_91a099436d.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 500px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 357px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3294/2954666359_91a099436d.jpg" /></a><br /><br />A model channeling the <em>Ariel</em> look from 'The Little Mermaid'... well that's the association that my brain linked this picture to (oh and hey it links to my fish comment above!!) Check out those red lips!<br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://media.schoolofvisualarts.edu/sva/media/10137/large/RMK1_LR_L.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 373px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 475px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://media.schoolofvisualarts.edu/sva/media/10137/large/RMK1_LR_L.jpg" /></a><br />Not only am I loving this red cordial hair but I'm loving the bashful pink tone used as eye shadow and with the hint of colour on her lips. To top it off she has nice green eyes.</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>For more great photography images from the set these two belong to head over to <a href="http://www.photographytara.blogspot.com/">Photography Tara</a></div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Mitch. Back then I thought they were great but just didn't think twice as I worked for a denim retailer and owned 200 pairs of jeans (after a culling I'm down to 120).<br /><br />Now that I'm older and wiser ...and in desperate need of great fashionable jeans (lets face it... I may have 120 but I only wear 4 pairs and they are dying!) I decided to look them up again, I wasn't disappointed. Finn denim may be one of the most innovative denim designers I have come across, not only are the jeans on offer great but I literally am having difficulty changing my mind on using my credit card, I'm not allowed to and I really cant afford to... but I need these jeans!!!<br /><br /><br /><br /><p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 595px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 442px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.finndenim.com/images/Red_Corvette_mns.jpg" /><br />Not only do I love this shot for it's artistic purposes but I am in love with these red metallic jeans called "Red Corvette". I'm going to justify that not only will I look fab in these jeans BUT I technically get TWO pairs in the one! </p><p><br /></p><p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 595px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 442px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.finndenim.com/images/Anti_Kilt_mns.jpg" /><br />Since a horrible twist of fate destroyed my checked Wrangler skinnies I have now found out why the fashion gods ruined them. They decided that these HOT jeans were better for me and I shall be lusting over these until they are wrapped around me. "Anti Kilt" will you marry my legs? </p><p><br /><br /></p><p><a href="http://www.finndenim.com/images/Red_Corvette_wmns.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 442px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 595px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.finndenim.com/images/Red_Corvette_wmns.jpg" /></a> Think us boys get all the cool threads? Finn have made the same styles for the ladies too, imagine having a boyfriend with the same jeans and turning up to a party and going "OMG we are wearing the same jeans" not a problem, drop your pants and switch them inside out and you have a new pair, fashion crisis averted! </p><p><br /></p><p><a href="http://www.finndenim.com/images/Anti_Kilt_wmns.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 595px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 442px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.finndenim.com/images/Anti_Kilt_wmns.jpg" /></a> Rockabilly eat your heart out, they also channel a good punk look (not that rubbish emo stuff) It seems these jeans are so hot you don't even need a top! chuck on a scarf and you're set to rock these hot jeans. </p><p><br />To check out more of these fabulous jeans go to <a href="http://www.finndenim.com/">Finn Denim</a> you'll Want, Love and Need them just as I do!<br /><br />Well I think Santa has found 2 new items he needs to get me or good old plastic will come to the rescue and easy my non shopping woes.<br /><br /><br />Mitch. Majority of work so far is as an assistant as it's my first year) I started out in retail for 5 years and all the while longed to be deeper in the industry and have always wanted to style. So at the beginning of the year I applied for one of Australia's best fashion schools FBI Fashion College and I got in. Since then they have taken me from fashion nobody to fashion somebody (in certain circles) In just 6 months I have completed 90% of my 5 year plan (obviously overestimated how long each goal would take) and I'm so close to my dream of being a full fledged stylist.<br /><br /><br /><div>Which brings me to the reason for this post. As a stylist you have to have a kit, now for most of you a twinge of recollection will hit you and you'll say "is that the bag that Brad took of Rachel's when he screwed up the Oscars?" yes that's the bag, others will be going "that bloody heavy bag I have to lug around with me everywhere" yes that's the bag... and for those who are stumped? It's a bag that has everything you could possibly need to fix problems that arise in your job, busted seams, makeup stains, cleavage boost, tape in those no bra boobs, gaff tape to protect shoes, toolbox with scissors and pins, wet wipes, g-strings, props etc. </div><br /><div>So from that you can see it is extremely important and essential. I've been carrying most of this stuff in my leather messenger bag and to put it bluntly I've screwed my back up. It's so heavy and it has caused many a tension headache. A friend of my brother Rick (used to be his boss) caught wind of this off my brother and he knew what I did for a living PLUS his partner and son are obsessed with fashion so they'd relate our world to him in terms he understood (they rock she wanted me to go see the September issue with her and her son but it was a college night..sigh). He took this info with him and approached his team at his new job (State manager of <em>Crumpler</em>) and managed to get them to sponsor me with a heavy duty bag to save my back and make my travels easy. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 450px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.crumpler.com.au/media/images-html/PC02A-img01-fdebb041-ab35-4ddc-94eb-9949ca3378ee.jpg" /></div><br /><div><a href="http://www.crumpler.com.au/media/images-html/PC02A-img03-ad957f9e-73d3-4e75-a486-bb6472b1ba73.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 450px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.crumpler.com.au/media/images-html/PC02A-img03-ad957f9e-73d3-4e75-a486-bb6472b1ba73.jpg" /></a><br /></div><br /><div><br /><div><a href="http://www.crumpler.com.au/media/images-html/PC02A-img05-aacc4aa6-5774-4c02-a03b-cc8d3bf69465.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 450px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.crumpler.com.au/media/images-html/PC02A-img05-aacc4aa6-5774-4c02-a03b-cc8d3bf69465.jpg" /></a><br /><br /></div><br /><div><br /></div><div><a href="http://www.crumpler.com.au/media/images-html/PC02A-img02-2e0cb006-a73d-4018-a544-2d8c1678fb0f.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 450px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.crumpler.com.au/media/images-html/PC02A-img02-2e0cb006-a73d-4018-a544-2d8c1678fb0f.jpg" /></a><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Ladies and Gentlemen I introduce you to my new baby the <em>Period Charmer.</em> This baby is packed full of awesome features and it meets all of the criteria that I gave to Rick on what my Kit should be able to store and do. About 98% of my travel is by public transport so this heavy duty handle and comfy rubber grip will be of great help. I especially love the picture they show of how many 6 packs you can put in the bag, it gives me ideas on how to host a "pop up" party, just turn up to a friends place and crack open you bag... voila you have an instant party. This makes the bag both practical and fun and with all the special features and over all weight relief this is going to save me I think these guys will have a life long shopper for ALL my luggage needs. </div><div><br /></div><div></div><div><br /></div><div>If you guys are inspired and require one for your work or need an awesome travel bag this model will cost you $395 and bloody well worth it!!! Just head on in to a <em>Crumpler</em> store (mention me where possible It'll be good feedback for Rick)</div><div><br /></div><div></div><div>Can't wait to turn up to shoots with this bag to outshine the makeup artists, hair stylists and assistants.</div><div><br /> </div><div>Mitch. I love being able to let my imagination roam wild with not only fashion but with ideas in general. For a while I've been obsessed with <em>Sigur Ros</em> and another Icelandic band (who in fact do the string work for Sigur Ros) <em>Amiina.</em> They both are able to take me to fantasy realms with their sweet, haunting music. One song that I'm obsessed with is 'Hemipode' by<em> Amiina</em>, this song definitely took me to a tea party kind of place, think Alice in Wonderland meets Maire Antoinette (the movie). Think of a hillside with a golden sun hue running through the trees, bright bold colours in every point of vision, a gorgeous crochet blanket with a spread of a porcelain tea set with lady birds delicately painted on them and cartoon-esk cakes in all shapes and sizes.</div><br /><div></div><br /><div></div></div><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 501px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.mother-tucker.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/amiina.jpg" /></div><br /><div></div><br /><div align="center"><em>Amiina</em> proving the teaparty theme was accurate (found this after I wrote my blog post). You get to go to all the great stores and spend other peoples money... the draw back is you don't actually shop for yourself (and due to my current financial standings I don't get to shop until Feb next year!!)</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Lately I've been "Hired" by a couple of friends and my Mum to help source some great fashion finds, my payment? they all seem to feel sorry for me not being able to shop and they buy me something each trip. So far I've received a Shirt, 2 T-shirts, 4 Pairs of shoes and 1 non fashion item... a box of chocolates (BTW thats adds up to $600 worth of gifts). Now all I need is a pair of jeans/pants and Ill have a complete outfit with interchangeable shoes and tee's.</div><div> </div><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 254px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5408669257768004930" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAWOUkiGGLkJyKmQYaUC-uuKXgrCheJxhaJMFduzD7rok59ZgRXZhbH3zj_Na4RVETz1wN-7F0LQ1LjSIZ3eZFOKyTQugfSkxjxCOjNqsr-1CCVMGOYn-dBX6SFYYvrLaSAndO9zd3b3ia/s400/Zu+shoe.jpg" /></div><br /><p>I got these shoes last week as a gift for creating an outfit for an Xmas party. The Outfit:Earrings, 2 Rings, A 6 set of Bangles, A dress and some great shoes. Cosmetics: 2 nail varnish options, lipstick, blush and a great anti wrinkle foundation. As you can see they got the works so I am grateful for their extra splash out on grabbing me some shoes.</p><p>I don't expect these gifts but boy doesn't it feel great to be updating my wardrobe while helping others! One day Ill have paying clients when I branch out from photoshoots into personal shopping and Ill still be helping friends for free</p><p>Mitch. Since when do 9 yr olds say things like "I love the contrast of colours..." "this range inspired me and took me on a new journey..." and "I love the silhouettes used, he is such an artistic and influential designer" ... I'm sorry but when I was 9 it was all about 'Samurai Pizza Cats' and 'Xmen' no one ever spoke this way.. in fact the most sophisticated phrase used by us would be "I think we should ask permission to have a sleep over so we can watch videos all night". Either these kids have been trained very well by their parents, the media are altering and editing their work like crazy ... or kids really do hear from the womb and are learning to be stylish and articulate as a foetus.<br /><br /><p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 250px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 333px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://olivereader.com/images/uploads/arlo1_thumb.jpg" /></p><p align="center">Arlo Weiner fashions new style guru (he writes articles for GQ magazine...he's 9!!!what the?)and Son of Matthew Weiner creator of ultra stylish tv series 'Mad Men'</p><p align="center"><br /></p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 280px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.virginmedia.com/images/olsen-twins.jpg" /><br /><br /><div align="center">The Olsen twins were the first to tackle business at a young age creating a multi million $ Empire (dare I say Billion?) </div><br /><div align="center"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 595px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://cm1.theinsider.com/thumbnail/400/595/cm1.theinsider.com/media/0/536/17/k.jpg" />Gwen Stefani's son looking uber cool and scarily like me... say 2 years ago (as in fashion not height and age!)<br /></div><p>If this is not merely a fad us "oldies" need to get our acts together and read the dictionary, train up on fashion knowledge and beat these kids to all the good jobs before they leave us for dead!<br /></p><p>Mitch.
